This website was created in memory of our loving daughter, Laci Michelle Taquino, who was born in Louisiana on July 2, 1991 and passed away on August 14, 2006 at the tender age of 15.

Laci was a very healthy, active and phyically fit person. She never showed signs of anything. She had her yearly check-ups at the doctor. She was very seldom sick. She was truly loving and enjoying her life, until a typical Saturday evening turned into a nightmare. Laci experienced a sudden headache and loss feeling in her leg. Within 15 minutes she was unconscious. She was taken to a local emergency room and a CT scan revealed a massive hemorrhage in the right parietal occipital region of her brain. Surgery was performed, and revealed an Arteriovenus Malformation (AVM). Due to the amount of swelling in the brain, Laci was declared brain dead on Monday, August 14th at 9:40 a.m.

On July 13th, Laci received her driver's permit and chose to be an organ donor. Little did we know 1 month later she would save the lives of 6 people.

She was a Sophomore at Comeaux High School and was an "Honor Student" with a 4.0 GPA. Laci was a Junior Varsity Cheerleader and was an active member of the Beta Club. The following article was written by Anna Helm and appeared in the school newspaper in November, 2006.

The following is a poem given to us from the Comeaux High School Cheerleaders.
When we have a hard day, And it seems everyone is in a bad mood, Without even saying a word, We just look around and say, "What would Laci do?"
She never liked us to fight, She longed for us to work together, Everyday she gave us her all, In long practices and games with bad weather.
She was the perfect picture of a friend, She had cheerleading down to an art, We will always keep her spot open in our cheers, And keep her name forever in our hearts.
Laci was a student of dance for 12 years at Sugar -n- Spice Dance Academy. She competed and performed in the Bahama's, Disney World, Myrtle Beach, New York and various cities in Louisiana. Her grace and love of dance will be missed greatly.
Sugar 'n Spice Dance School dedicated their 2007 Dance Revue to Laci. This would have been Laci's 13th dance revue. I know she was with with me, Lexi and all her dancing buddies on stage. Her grace and love of dance was missed by many. Please visit her legacy page to read about the dancing school's dedication to Laci and view the video of the dance performed in her memory.
May, 2008 Lace, don't worry I didn't forget your 14 roses! I hope you dance with the Angels always. I just wish I could see it.

Laci was a positive and kindhearted person. Always known for her loving and caring ways. She was a great friend to many and put her heart into everything she did. She will always be remembered for her hard work and dedication. Anyone who knew Laci will remember how special she was from the moment they met her. Laci's polite and quiet nature always drew compliments from many. Always smiling, she strived to help others and make those around her happy.
Although Laci's life was short, she lived it to the fullest. She leaves behind a lasting impression in many hearts and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and those whose lives she briefly touched. We are very proud of her and the life she lived. We will love and remember her forever.
Laci is a now a "Special Angel" to many.

You never said you're leavin You never said goodbye You were gone before I knew i And only God knew why.
A million times I needed you A million times I cried. If love along could have saved you You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly In death I love you still In my heart you hold a place. That nobody could ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose you But you didn't go alone For part of me went with you, The day God took you home. ~ Author Unknown~
